Staying on the Sunset Islands
What it is like
The Sunset Islands are four small residential islands in Biscayne Bay, on the west side of Miami Beach near Sunset Harbour. Streets are short and quiet, yet Lincoln Road, Sunset Harbour restaurants and the beach are a few minutes away.
The homes
Homes are single-family houses, many on the water with a dock and a pool facing the bay or the downtown skyline. Older Mediterranean houses sit next to recent modern builds.
Privacy and access
The islands are purely residential with no shops or through traffic, reached by small bridges from the Miami Beach side. Mature hedges and gates screen most houses from the street.
By boat
Waterfront homes can board a boat at the dock and be out in Biscayne Bay within minutes, with the sandbars and Government Cut a short run south.
Getting around
- Lincoln Road and South Beach: about 5 to 10 minutes by car
- Downtown Miami and Brickell: about 15 to 20 minutes
- Miami International Airport (MIA): about 25 to 35 minutes
Typical drive times outside rush hour. Causeway traffic and bridge openings can add time.
